It’s hard trying to put cold weather looks together when its sunny and 70 and you’re surrounded by palm trees.  Something about it just doesn’t feel authentic.  You know, there are people shoveling snow, scraping ice off their cars, literally freezing their asses off and I’m over here sweating in an overcoat trying to convince someone its cold out.

Luckily we have had a few mornings where it’s been in the high 40s ( a real cold front if you will) That I could almost justify layering up and not worry about over heating.  Here are 3 looks that will work will for a variety of events and occasions.

1. Knit Sweater & Boots

MVMT - December-1.jpgTo me, this is what winter is all about.  Thick sweaters, scarves, long socks, and a great pair of boots.  For this look on top I threw a thick cable knit sweater from COTTON ON over a GAP button down and finished the look with a TIE BAR scarf and MVMT Watch.  On the bottom I went with some J. CREW denim, thick AMERICAN TRENCH socks, and these amazing cap toe boots from CROSBY SQUARE.

This Look is Perfect for:  Christmas Day, Casual Holiday Parties or even a Date Night

2. Dapper Denim

CS- December-6.jpgI’ve always found it fun and challenging to try and dress up a denim jacket. For this look on top I took a denim jacket from GAP and paired it with a cutaway collar dress shirt from GRAND FRANK, a vest from HUMAN SCALES, and a bordeaux tie from my Gent’s Lounge collaboration with WEEKEND CASUAL.  On the bottom I took these warm wool trousers from GRAYERS and finished the look with these bordeaux loafers from CROSBY SQUARE. (If you live anywhere remotely cold I’d recommend socks)

This Look is Perfect for:  Beers with the Boys, Classier Holiday Parties, or even A Day at the Office

3. Casual Friday

MVMT - December-7 copy.jpgJeans and a button down is kind of the quintessential “semi-casual” look.  But pair it with an overcoat and some killer suede cap toes and suddenly this uniform of boring office attire becomes a lot more interesting.  For this look on top I went with a button down from COMBATANT GENTLEMEN, a scarf from THE TIE BAR, and finished the look with and overcoat from TOPMAN.  On the bottom, PAIGE denim and cap toes from CROSBY SQUARE round out the look. (Once again, if you live somewhere cold don’t wear no show socks)

This Look is Perfect for:  Friday at the Office, Dinner with Friends, or Last Minute Christmas Shopping
